What is HappilyRewired.com?
HappilyRewired.com is a blog for boomers/seniors who want to “rewire” instead of retire. Let's call them "bloomers." It offers active and engaged bloomers information they need to ignite the spark in life’s second half – whether it’s starting a small business, embarking on an encore career, or giving back. It isn't another financial advice blog -- there are plenty of those. HappilyRewired.com will help the 50-plus population explore ways to live productive, fulfilling, financially secure lives.

Who are You?
You’ve accomplished a lot in the first half of your life, and now the second half is upon you. You want or need to continue to work as long as you can. At some point, though, you’ll want to leave your current job – or it won’t be there anymore. But you’re not just the type to “retire;” you want to keep busy, active, and engaged, living a life that’s productive, fulfilling, and financially secure.
What’s next for you? Is it starting your own business, embarking on an encore career, or working part-time? Or are you financially secure enough so you can spend your time doing something you’re passionate about, whether or not you get paid for it?
Maybe you don’t want to retire. Maybe you want to rewire. Maybe you should take a fresh look at who you are, what you love, and where you want to go next. HappilyRewired.com is for you.
Who am I?
I am Barry Silverstein, your blogger. I am a book author, blogger and freelance writer. I started and ran a direct marketing agency and then transitioned out of my professional career to "retire" in my mid-fifties. I knew that "retire" didn't define what I wanted to do with the second half of my life, so I "rewired" instead.
Rewiring in my case meant relocating with my wife from the Boston, Massachusetts area to Asheville, NC, starting a small business with her and then selling it, building a freelance writing and consulting practice, getting involved with a local non-profit, becoming a brand marketing counselor for a small business center...see why the word "retire" just doesn't work?
All in all, it has been a satisfying journey, which is why I am "happily rewired." I hope to share some of the things I learned -- and keep learning -- so you too can happily rewire the second half of your life.
